Mother and Daughter - 23 (H) x 18 (W) Ink and water color on wood panel - commission work.
The reference photo showed the moment before my client gave birth to her daughter while her mother comforted her in time of needs.
Childbirth is one of the most important and also the most dramatic event in one's life, fill of uncertainty, confusion and fear, and having one's mother there offers much needed calmness and tranquility, much like what a lotus pond in most Asian culture represent, that is why I chose to pair the two together to create this image: Peace and hope during uncertainty.
